The relief operations after the 6th April earthquake are ongoing.

 

After the first emergency phase the sub division into local areas has been revised. The whole area has now been divided into seven sub areas coordinated by different local coordination centres (COM). The overall coordination is guaranteed by a Local Emergency Management Authority (DICMAC) based in L’Aquila.

 

The displaced population is assisted in hotels, private houses and organized camps.

The building damage assessment is ongoing at the moment already 780 Italian experts are already working. Furthermore in the framework of the overall operation the Italian Civil Protection Department has requested through the MIC up to 8 technical experts (structural engineering / civil engineering / earthquake engineering) to support Italy in assessing the stability of buildings. The European Mechanism expert team is expected to be in Italy by next Saturday 18 April.
